We Have Always Lived in a Castle

I

me

my

love

magick

dust

poison

fingers

fire

blood

death

tomb

hate

vile

no

.

Every morning, quarter to 8, I sing my chant so the evil will abate

Every night, quarter to 7, I burn the mint so my mother will see heaven

My sister is mine, and I am her’s

My magic will protect us

My magic will protect us.

I will protect us.

This poem is inspired by the Monster She Wrote, Prompt Challenge: Day 3 We Have Always Lived In A Castle by Shirley Jackson. I will be trying to follow this prompt challenge as much as I can throughout the month of October! Photo by Ali Lokhandwala on Unsplash.
