The Demon Lover

Do you hear the wind in the willows?

Do you hear the train travel across the plains?

The music of life has gone from me.

Help me find it again.

.

My heart has been ripped

ribcage empty black

From a sacrifice

long long ago

My mind has been twisted

feathers fly far

and a greasy sick smile

From a ritual

long long ago

.

Do you see the robin in its nest?

Or the baby bear nuzzle its mother?

The music of life has gone from me.

Help me find it again.

This poem is inspired by the Monster She Wrote, Prompt Challenge: Day 4 The Demon Lover by Dion Fortune. I will be trying to follow this prompt challenge as much as I can throughout the month of October! Photo by Kaung Myat Min by Unsplash.
