Shhh…

I should be working

thinking

typing away

but then

someone

has asked me to lunch

and I forgot all my

work time duties

associated with

“good job”

and

“well done”

instead I ran around

eating lunchtime

ramen

until laughing was the only sound

in my ears

Frozen

tipping back

the timeline

and realizing

that my life

my heart

is no longer a

frozen

ice rock

solid fortress

instead

as this year ends

I have warmed

to the fire

of life

love and joy

and

it feels good

to not be cold

anymore

.

frozen

Today I used the go Go Dog Go Cafe words prompt to inspre this poem! Please check out the work of other poets! Check it out here.

Self Control

One for the start

three for the finish

for the race

that lies before us

hasn’t been diminished

by the sound of the ocean

by the sound of the train

I know where I stand

I know what I have to gain

this life requires endurance

this life requires cheer

and I gaze up to the sky

knowing you are always near

.

self control

For this series of poems, I am inspired by the “Fruits of the Spirit” found in the Bible. I am only allowing myself one minute for each poem, so its a sort of flash poem challenge.  Hope you enjoy! Please feel free to join along if you need some writing inspiration. Photo by Jordi Zamora on Unsplash.

Gentleness

Soft white

fuzzy moments

with you

are the fruit

sweet cherry tart

to my little life

I feel so alive

with your murmered whispers

into my hair

and every part

of every smile

warms

me because you are

kind

.

Faithfulness

when I stare at the sky

and count all the reasons

it is good to be alive

today

tomorrow and forever

I think

and ponder

the ways

each and every blessing

is the gift

of your

faithfulness

to me
