Promptober Day 13: Grass

“Is this a good spot?” Laurie said arms outstretched. The clouds drifted slowly across the sky. Mira caught up to Laurie. The view here was perfect.

“Yes”, she said. “Laurie this is perfect”. He was smiling at the sun, arms still extended. Suddenly, he turned and caught Mira in his arms. He kissed her neck, squeezed and let her go. Sitting down, Laurie stretched himself back on the warm grass. Mira stood a bit longer, somewhat startled by Laurie’s acts of affection. Mira caught her breath again. Her fingers touched where Laurie’s lips had been. She blushed as she let the sun warm her face.

“Sit down with me, Mira” Laurie grabbed at her hand gently. Tugging ever so slightly. As Mira bent down to rest next to Laurie, he quickly pulled her back to lay down on the grass next to him. Fingertips brushing. They both gazed up at the blue sky and noticed the quiet waves of the wind on their faces. Mira breathed in deeply.

“Laurie?” she stared.

Mira turned her head and noticed Laurie’s eyes were closed. He was fully relaxed with his hands resting on his stomach. He looked so peaceful. A perfect innocence resting on his face. A smile curled at Mira’s lips. In one quick movement, she lifted herself and bent over to Laurie kissing him on the lips. She dared not linger too long but the soft relaxed lips received her kiss willingly. Under her kiss, Mira felt Laurie’s lips curve into a smile. She pulled away feeling very embarrassed. She sat up.

“Mira?” Laurie’s eyes were opened. He looked at her blushing cheeks and back at her lips. He smiled. “Let’s rest here a little longer. Yes?” He reached out his hand and rested it on Mira’s.

“I would like that,” Mira whispered. The clouds slowly passed by. The wind blew through their hair. Mira shuddered and lifted Laurie’s hand that rested overtop her’s. She gave it a gentle kiss. The breeze rippled through the grass bringing the warm air to the couple as they watched the sky.
