Promptober Day 15: Sunrise

Kiri gripped the ledge of the window. She stood on her toes to see. If only she was taller! She tugged her arms but didn’t lift any further. A deep laugh sounded behind her. Kiri turned to see Claude walk up. His tall Talchirian limbs swung at his sides. He filled a room with his large alien body.

“Oh hi, Claude,” Kiri said. Claude looked down at Kiri. His four eyes all blinked at her at different times.

“Do you need help, my human female friend?” Claude’s voice reverberated through the room.

Kiri looked up sheepishly. “If you don’t mind,Claude. These windows are made for a larger species than my own.”

Claude’s long arms wrapped around her torso and he lifted Kiri up above the ledge of the window. She looked out of the window. There it was! Her beautiful earth! The big blue planet looked like a perfect round fruit in the sky. When the spacecraft made its rounds, this was Kiri’s favorite time to go planet-gazing. And look! There was the sun peaking out from behind the Earth. Kiri sighed.

“The Earth truly is a beautiful planet.” Claude said. “Have you been able to descend and traverse this planet?”

Kiri smiled. “Oh yes, the sunrise is the best part of the day. If only we could! Everything the earth’s atmosphere creates! It just dazzles the sky!”

“Would you say this view is beautiful?” Claude asked. “Please describe it to me.”

“Oh yes,” Kiri responded. She put her hand on Claude’s arm. “Don’t worry friend, I will make sure you get down there one day. Then I won’t have to tell you about it, you will just be able to remember.”

Claude smiled. His human friend really was very kind.
